Construction traffic
PMR's application claims that the number of vehicle loads generated during an 11-month construction period could 11,906 two-way loads. 8706 of these would be HGV loads. They assert that this equates to an average of 42 trips to and from the site per day over a six day week. However, this ignores the fact that the access track construction and crane pad construction will take place over just 14 weeks and will involve 7,250 two way movements of lorries carrying stone. This entails 103 trips to and from the site per day over a five-day week. This would have a high impact on residents throughout the area, including Eyemouth, St Abbs, and anyone travelling to Berwick. There will be a huge impact on those living on Templehall who would be subjected to almost constant noise and interference from lorries passing within feet of their homes. There will be a further 750 two-way trips of lorries carrying concrete for turbine foundation construction which PMR say would run concurrently with access track construction. (PMR ES Addendum 14.4).
We believe that our roads are ill equipped to handle such traffic.
